You can also get your hands on individual movie tickets for Festival films too! Individual tickets cost $15 per film and are on sale now (July 1, 2022).

RBC Sunset Beach Screenings

The RBC Sunset Screenings are finally back after 3 years of pandemic plunder. Catch movies on the Gimli beach for FREE every evening of the Festival. Shows will take place at 10 PM every evening.

As Stitch, a runaway genetic experiment from a faraway planet wreaks havoc on the Hawaiian Islands, he becomes the mischievous adopted alien “puppy” of an independent little girl named Lilo and learns about loyalty, friendship, and ‘ohana, the Hawaiian tradition of family.


Mamma Mia! The Movie

Donna (Meryl Streep), is preparing for her daughter’s wedding with the help of two old friends. Meanwhile, Sophie, the spirited bride, has a plan. She secretly invites three men from her mother’s past in hope of meeting her real father and having him escort her down the aisle. Adapted from the stage musical of the same name, based on the songs of the successful pop group ABBA, with additional music composed by ABBA member Benny Andersson.


Life of Pi

The story of an Indian boy named Pi, a zookeeper’s son who finds himself in the company of a hyena, zebra, orangutan, and a Bengal tiger after a shipwreck sets them adrift in the Pacific Ocean. Adapted from the Canadian novel by Yann Martel.

In this witty, satirical farce, secretaries Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and office manager Lily Tomlin live every female worker’s dream after discovering they share the same resentment towards their egotistical, sexist boss. When they get an unexpected chance to take revenge, they turn their male-controlled workplace into a model office – even as their scheme spins wildly out of control.

Big-Games Zone (every night)

Every night before the RBC Sunset Beach Screenings there will be free face painting, giveaways, family-friendly activities, and more! 50/50 and GIFF merchandise will also be available at the GIFF Info and Merch Tent.

“Super Pass and Film Community Pass holders are invited to join our VIPs, sponsors, volunteers, and filmmakers to kick off our 22nd annual Festival at this very special opening reception.” Catering and drink services will be provided by Mad Dash Catering and Interlake Brewing Co.

On the Beach

“An intimate discussion with the producers and some of the local stars of the hit reality show, ICE VIKINGS, produced by Manitoba’s Farpoint Films! Hear them talk about their experiences creating the show and what’s in store for the future! Hosted by Michael Petrow and Jimmy Skinner from the Reel Debaters Podcast!”

July 23, 10:00 am – RBC $10,00 Emerging Filmmaker Pitch Competition
FREE, Gimli Theatre – 72 Second Ave

“Please join us to watch the five finalists of this year’s Competition pitch their story ideas to a jury in front of a live audience! Participants will describe their story idea, justify their budget, describe their ideal cast and crew and talk about their overall vision for the project.

The event will also feature the world premiere of Stay by Elena Sturk Lussier, winner of the 2021 competition. Thanks to RBC, On Screen Manitoba, the National Screen Institute, and the Winnipeg Film Group for their generous support of this competition!”

“Come celebrate and be marveled by the boundless creativity of Manitoba’s filmmakers at GIFF’s annual Manitoba Shorts in Competition.  Our team has compiled the best Manitoba-made short films from the past year, and selected the best Manitoba Short Film, which will be announced at the screening!”
