What is the Gâto?
Born from a love of sourdough and vegan baking, pastry chef Laura opened Gâto’s doors in 2018 after years of expertly baking from home. Many of the pastries at Gâto use sourdough, which makes for a unique flavour profile.

Breakfast Croissant
This is quite honestly one of the tastiest pastries I’ve ever eaten. This savory breakfast croissant is topped with vegan “cheez” sauce, potatoes, and a medley of fresh microgreens.
These are easily the tastiest croissants in Winnipeg.

Chocolate Hazelnut Danish
Moving away from the savory breakfast croissant, Gâto serves a chocolate hazelnut danish. It’s made with sourdough, which offsets the sweetness of the chocolate hazelnut sauce on top.
This one might be vegan, but I can’t remember! Double-check when you’re in next!

Vanilla Cronut
Someone recommended I go to Gâto specifically to try their vegan cronuts. Man, I wish I would have bought more! When I stopped in, they had 4 flavours to choose from, but I went with the classic vanilla, Homer Simpson-looking donut.
The layers of pastry were so melty and sweet – highly recommend trying one of these on either a Wed, Fri, or Sat when they’re available.
